PREMIER REGIONAL BUSINESS AWARD
Winner: SRXGlobal
Sponsor: NAB
Finalists: Wurth Australia, Norden Body Works, Wastech Engineering

DANDENONG South manufacturer SRXGlobal turns dreams into reality.
The Australian market leader in electronic manufacturing services (EMS) partners with major innovators to prototype, develop and market its ideas.
The business prides itself on partnering with industrial design firms around Australia to provide a full turn-key solution for design and manufacturing needs.
Its growing reputation last June won SRX the Large Manufacturer of the Year award at the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame gala dinner.
It can now add the Greater Dandenong Chamber of Commerce 2014 Premier Regional Business Award to its trophy cabinet.
SRX has established manufacturing facilities in Malaysia and New Zealand and sales offices in Singapore and the UK to complement its headquarters on Kitchen Road.
The headquarters has just under 200 employees – from 35 nationalities – and also provides manufacturing and electronic service and repair.
General manager Jeff Malone can see the business growing 15 to 20 per cent year on year for the next few, with the medical and defence industries the key to making it happen.
He said the company was developing a cheek swab system to replace blood tests and an ultrasound machine the size of a phone.
“The doctor walks around the hospital with an ultrasound like a stethoscope,“ he said.
“Or forget the hospital – he can go out in the field.
“That’s the kind of design and manufacturing that’s happening in Melbourne right now.
“If we’re not continuously breaking new ground we’ll fall behind.“
SRX creates display systems for attack helicopters, battery power control systems for foot soldier electronics, remote radio communication to base systems and data communication security products.
It also manufactures automotive engine management systems for V8 Supercars, mining and industrial lighting and automatic door control systems.
“The list of potential products is endless and in our ever-increasing electronic world, still growing,” awards chairman James Sturgess said.
Up to 75 per cent of SRXGlobal’s Australian made products end up overseas.
“This is a business that is adding value and supporting Australia’s high standard of living,” Mr Sturgess said.
“The US is the major recipient of product with Europe following close behind.
“Some of the products that the business manufactures are cutting edge technology and lead the world in their respective areas.”
Former Technology Minister Gordon Rich-Phillips officially opened a new $125,000 plant at SRXGlobal in April last year.
“Investments like these are demonstrating the confidence that technology companies like SR Global have in Victorian manufacturing and, more broadly, the Victorian economy,” he said.
SRXGlobal was nominated for the CSR and Employment, Manufacturing, Retail and Commercial, and Premier Regional Business awards.
It was a finalist in the Manufacturing and CSR and Employment categories.
