Thieves torch stolen ute

THIEVES torched a stolen ute on a Springvale roadside in daylight.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Senior Constable Tony Lavars said witnesses reported a green Holden Rodeo ute parking on Newcomen Road about 2pm on 13 March.
He said two people got out of the vehicle and set it on fire while the engine was still running.
They ran away and the Springvale CFA attended and extinguished the fire.
Fire crews found a fuel can on the ute’s back seat.
Sen Const Lavars said the ute’s owner called about an hour later to report it stolen from Noble Park.
He urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
