Art stream celebrates

By GEORGIA WESTGARTH

VISITORS can look out for a stream of artistic talent as local and aspiring artists of all ages get creative for the Noble Park Art Show’s 10th Anniversary display.
The official launch of the show on Thursday 23 July at the Noble Park Community Centre celebrated all things art and welcomed councillors, artists and community groups to help kick off the event and birthday celebrations.
Community centre manager Brian Woodman said the launch party helped to remind people to get painting.
“Entries are now open for the show and prizes are awarded to every category from the juniors’ under 16s and all abilities through to the aged care section,” Mr Woodman said.
The community art show welcomes artists of most mediums including oil, acrylic, pastel, gouache, watercolour, pencil, ink, mixed media, charcoal and photography.
Mr Woodman said the show is very popular among local schools receiving about 300 entries and about 100 entries from the aged care section.
“It’s a fantastic experience for people to come down and see their art up on display,” he said.
This year visual and community art co-ordinator at the City of Greater Dandenong David O’Halloran, a curator with 30 years’ experience, will be judging the art show which has an optional theme of ‘celebration’.
The show will open on Friday 9 October and entries close on Thursday 17 September.
