Registering for lives after death

THE Dandenong and Dandenong South East Rotary clubs are urging families to ‘have the chat’ about organ and tissue donation during DonateLife Week from 2 to 9 August.
A Rotary district governor’s grandson, Jack Wilson, inspired the push after a kidney transplant transformed his life.
Rotary Club of Dandenong president Susan Collier urged people to sign the Australian Organ Donor Register.
“And, importantly, share your decision with those closest to you,” she said.
Rotary Club of Dandenong South East president Colin Byron said family members had to confirm their loved one’s wishes before a donation could proceed.
“Having the chat can make a life-saving difference to people waiting for a transplant,” he said.
“It can be the difference between seeing and being blind, mobility and never walking again.”
Those interested can visit www.donatelife.gov.au or phone the Rotary Club of Dandenong on 0422 688 315 or Rotary Club of Dandenong South East on 0447 379 329 for more information.
