Thief in disguise steals phone, purse

A FAKE tradie has conned his way into a Dandenong home and stolen a phone and purse.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Senior Constable Tony Lavars said the man dressed in tradesman’s clothing knocked on a Scott Street unit’s back door about 9.50am on 24 August.
He told the owner he was there to fix the unit complex’s windows and was allowed inside.
Det Sen Const Lavars said the victim, a 30-year-old woman, realised a theft was taking place and yelled at the man, who ran from the house.
Police arrested the 41-year-old man from The Basin in nearby Pickett Street a short time later.
