A wheely good way to work

GREATER Dandenong residents are urged to jump on their bikes for Ride2Work Day.
The council will host a ride from Springvale Railway Station into the Dandenong Civic Centre with several stops along the way on Wednesday 15 October.
A free coffee, healthy breakfast and massage will be available in Harmony Square for people who register for the ride.
Mayor Sean O’Reilly said the event could help people to discover the benefits of cycling.
“It’s a great way to de-stress, and save money on petrol and parking,” he said.
“Riding to work is a great way to fit in exercise on the way to and from work.
“Riding is something you can easily fit around your busy work and family commitments.”
Bicycle Network is aiming for 10,000 new riders to take part in this year’s Ride2Work Day and to keep riding on a regular basis.
Chief external relations officer Chris Carpenter more than two-thirds of Australians were not getting enough exercise.
“More than half of the riders who start commuting to work on Ride2Work Day are still regularly riding 12 months later,” he said.
