A SEA of students flooded Harmony Square during a Mental Health Week event.
The Greater Dandenong teens heard from three guests speakers and enjoyed entertainment at the City of Greater Dandenong’s Youth and Family Services forum on Thursday 8 October.
The aim was to increase help-seeking behaviour in young people and increase their capacity to support their peers.
Guest speakers included The Resilience Project founding director Hugh Van Cuylenburg, renowned for his ongoing work nationally and internationally.
He discussed youth mental health with a focus on helping mates experiencing mental health issues.
Motivational Company director Sacha Kaluri founded the annual Australian Teen EXPO and explored how young people could help their mates and build resilience in the context of bullying.
Aussie rules footballer and Beyondblue ambassador Jason Ball discussed how his mates and community supported him when he came out publicly as a gay footballer.
