An altercation occurred when police arrived at the scene and one of the members was struck to the head with the hatchet.
He received non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Maroondah Hospital.
Police arrested a 24-year-old Bangholme man, a 40-year-old Dandenong man and two others over the incident.
They were in custody on Thursday night.
