Mystery surrounds critically injured man

By GEORGIA WESTGARTH

POLICE are investigating how a man was abandoned on the road with life- threatening injuries in a Springvale road incident over the weekend.
The incident happened on Springvale Road, near Dangerfield Drive, about 9.20pm on Sunday 24 January.
And investigators are still trying to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
It is not known whether the incident was a hit-run accident or if the man jumped or fell out of a car.
Police are still trying to identify the man who was taken to The Alfred hospital with life-threatening injuries, and is in a critical but stable condition.
He has been described as being aged in his mid to late teens, perceived to be of Caucasian appearance and about 165cm with blond sandy-coloured hair.
At the time of the incident, the man was wearing a black hat, blue T-shirt, long beige pants and had a blue plaster cast on his left hand.
Detectives are keen to speak to the driver of a car, believed to be a small black hatch, that was seen driving south on Springvale Road immediately after the incident.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
