Tee off for text books

GOLFERS will tee off to help raise money for school books, shoes and uniforms at this year’s Take a Swing for Charity Golf Day event.
The event, which has raised more than $250,000 for Greater Dandenong charities in the past seven years, will benefit the State Schools Relief Fund.
Last year the golf day raised $44,000 for 679 disadvantaged students from 17 Greater Dandenong schools.
Greater Dandenong Mayor Heang Tak said the event’s success depended on backing from local businesses.
“This event is a chance for business and industry to come together to have fun, network and, more importantly, give back to the community,” councillor Tak said.
“Keeping our young people at school is critical and any support we can give a child to continue their education cannot be overstated.”
The golf day is at Sandhurst Golf Club, 600 Thompsons Road, Sandhurst, on Monday 22 February at 11.30am.
Registrations close on 12 February.
