Test drive to the impound

A MAN allegedly caught speeding 88 kilometres over the limit in Dandenong South last night claimed he was just taking the luxury car for a test drive.
The Mercedes A250 was detected travelling at 188 km/h on the Monash Freeway just before 9pm on Monday 28 March.
After police intercepted the car as it left the freeway in Dandenong South, the 36-year-old driver, from Bayside, claimed he was taking it for a test drive.
The man will be charged on summons with speed dangerous, careless driving and speeding.
It’s understood the owner of the car was in the passenger seat at the time.
The car will be impounded for a month.
The intercept was part of Operation Nexus, which saw police specifically target dangerous driving over the Easter weekend.
