Cops probe political twist to CFA cauldron

By CASEY NEILL

Police are investigating allegations that three firefighters threatened to tear down a sign supporting the CFA at a Dandenong poultry business.
A banner with the words “Save the CFA – put Labor last” is hanging on the Victor’s Wholesale Meats building on Princes Highway.
The Herald Sun reported that three men in fire station uniform demanded the business owner take it down on Monday afternoon, and that security footage confirmed the encounter.
He allegedly directed the trio to a nearby garage, saying its owner had organised the sign.
Maz Motors, around the corner in Adelaide Street, declined a request from the Journal for comment.
The Journal also contacted Victor’s but has not received a response.
Greater Dandenong Inspector Sean Murray said police were “investigating to see if any offences occurred”.
Dandenong Fire Station officer-in-charge Paul Carrigg said he couldn’t comment at this stage.
