Man charged over sport star’s death

Police have charged a 28-year-old man with murder over Dandenong man Rahat Khan’s shooting death in Dallas.
They arrested Dallas man Kamil Yucel on Friday 15 July.
He appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a filing hearing on Wednesday 20 July and was remanded in custody until his next appearance in the court on Monday 7 November.
Emergency services were called to Millewa Crescent in Dallas shortly before 5.30pm on Tuesday 12 July, but paramedics were unable to revive Mr Khan, 20.
His North Dandenong cricket and football team-mates paid tribute to the Afghan migrant as driven, funny and passionate.
They said other players looked up to him and spectators loved to see him out on the field.
