Women with education support in their view raised $600 for The Smith Family.
The Dandenong Evening VIEW Club collected the cash for the Learning for Life program, at a dinner in Dandenong on Wednesday 31 August.
About 60 members and guests attended the three-course event at the St John’s Regional College Graduates’ Restaurant.
Spokeswoman Brigitte Billimoria said the night also featured a raffle, in which she won “a lovely set of glasses and a bottle of sherry”.
At the end of the evening, Graduates’ Restaurant manager Robert Andersson and some of the graduates joined VIEW Club committee members for photos.
“We had a wonderful night out at St John’s Graduates’ Restaurant and raised money at the same time,” Ms Billimoria said.
VIEW stands for Voice, Interests and Education of Women.
The Dandenong group has helped children to escape from disadvantage through education for the past 30 years.
The group’s inaugural meeting was held on 4 February 1986 in the St Mary’s Church community centre.
The group holds monthly dinners and regular activities and outings.
