Station makeover offers well-being boost

Dandenong train station commuters are on track for a well-being boost.
It’s one of four across Melbourne involved in the Community Stations pilot project, launched on World Mental Health Day, Monday 10 October.
It will host cultural performances, art, busking, pop-up coffee carts and therapy dog visits in a bid to raise awareness of mental health, foster connectedness and reduce isolation.
Public Transport Victoria is partnering with the TrackSAFE Foundation and University of Melbourne’s Centre for Mental Health to conduct the research project.
“We’re making our train stations more inclusive and enjoyable places to go – bringing people together and encouraging more people to listen and support each other,” Parliamentary Secretary for Public Transport Ros Spence said.
The pilot project will run until March next year. The Ringwood, Sunshine and Melton stations are also involved.
