Teen gang arrested over armed robbery

A Dandenong home was among several that were searched in relation to an armed robbery at a Toorak jewellery store.
Police arrested five teenagers over the 14 January incident at the Toorak Road business after executing warrants in Dandenong, Shepparton, Mooroopna, Epping, Collingwood, Richmond and Preston.
On 19 January they charged two 16-year-old Shepparton boys with armed robbery and possessing a firearm.
They were remanded in custody to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
Police arrested two 16-year-old boys from Epping and Richmond and a 17-year-old boy from Epping the following day and charged each with armed robbery.
They will appear before a children’s court at a later date.
Assistant Commissioner Robert Hill said the community could be assured that the recent jewellery shop armed robberies had been subject to a thorough investigation which was ongoing.
“Police can assure the community that we are committed to investigating these incidents, identifying and arresting all those who are involved, whether it be those who plan or actively commit the offences,” he said.
