With Club Noble President Barry Bradshaw.
What is something people don’t know about you?
That I ‘escaped’ from Western Australia around 45 years ago, just before my past was to catch up with me.
How long have you worked at Club Noble and how did you get involved?
I first got involved in the 1970s and served a total of 17 years as a committeeman/director, the last nine years as president.
What was your most memorable moment?
Being made a life member of Club Noble in 2015 … or perhaps I should have said our wedding or birth of our kids?
How do you respond when debates about pokies crop up?
Honestly, I try to ignore the hype and get frustrated with the general inaccuracies made by others. I try to get across the message that community clubs with gaming are really great contributors to their local communities.
What would your last meal be?
A big medium-rare steak with a glass or two of a good shiraz, followed by a bread and butter pudding with lots of cream just like my mum once made.
Where’s your favourite place in Greater Dandenong?
I really don’t have one favourite place. Maybe the Macca’s drive-through coffee at Parkmore. Can I say that?
What event, past, present or future, would you like to witness?
The Fremantle Dockers winning the AFL premiership. I am allowed to dream, aren’t I?
What’s the best thing about Noble Park?
Really? That’s easy. Our local community has so many caring people dedicated to improving conditions for local residents. I think that’s fantastic.
What six guests, dead or alive, would you invite to a dinner party?
First, I would invite Bruce Ruxton. Then add Pauline Hanson and African-American comedian Richard Pryor. I would also invite John Howard and Bob Hawke, who in my time I believe to have been the best PMs for their parties. And finally, Sir Les Patterson (Barry Humphries) to add some decorum, dignity and reverence at the dinner table.
What has been your most embarrassing moment?
Running out of petrol at peak hour, on a bend, on CityLink near St Kevin’s. It was also a very frightening experience as well.
