A Dandenong pub patron allegedly hit another man in the face with a pool ball, knocking him unconscious and breaking his nose.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the alleged assault on Thursday 2 November.
They said the 62-year-old victim was playing pool at the Jim Dandy Hotel on Lonsdale Street about 6pm.
A man described as African in appearance picked up a ball and hit him in the face with it.
Police said the victim woke up a short time later and left the pub.
He went to a doctor, who discovered eight broken ribs and a broken nose.
The victim spent a week in hospital recovering from his injuries.
He reported the incident to police three weeks later.
