Police arrested three men who were in a car that crashed into the Dandenong Primary School yard.
Principal Daniel Riley was called to the Foster Street school shortly after 2am on Thursday 5 April.
“What I know is that two men managed to walk from the accident and third was taken to hospital,” he said.
“Damage to school property appears to be very minimal but we will investigate further later today and tomorrow.”
The car stopped just metres from the heritage-listed, 1881–built main school building.
Police said a Volkswagen sedan lost control travelling around a bend, careered across the road, smashed through the school’s front fence and rolled several times before coming to rest at the entrance to the main school building.
They arrested two men, aged in their early twenties, at the scene while a third man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police were still trying to determine who was driving at the time of the crash.
They urged anyone who saw the vehicle prior to the crash to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report to www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
