A cab driver has struck down a male and a female fleeing on a scooter after they had robbed the driver at knifepoint, police say.

The man had allegedly threatened the male taxi driver with a knife on Bamwine Court, Dandenong South just before 3.30am on Thursday 13 December.

The man and a female passenger in the taxi then fled on the scooter, taking with them the cabbie’s phone and cash, police say.

The taxi has followed and allegedly struck the pair on Hammond Road – between Dandenong Bypass and Greens Road.

A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He is being treated for serious, non-life-threatening injuries in hospital while under police guard.

The taxi driver is speaking to police.

The female fled the scene and “remains outstanding at this stage”, police say.
