SOUTH-east Melbourne sides had some success at the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association awards on Friday night.
Noble Park star Marasinghe Perera was named in the team of the year and Oakleigh Cricket Club took home several honours.
The Oaks took home the Spirit of Cricket award and captain Jarrod Travaglia won the East group media award and was named in the team of the year with teammate Ben Pinwill.
Travaglia also finished second to Plenty Valley’s Lorenzo Ingram in the RM Hatch medal for best first XI player. Ingram polled 17 votes ahead of Travaglia on 15.
Oaks fourth XI player Dharmesh Patel also finished second in the fourth XI player of the year award.
■ Endeavour Hills has named Matthew Hutchinson from Doveton as captain-coach for next VSDCA season.
Hutchinson, a former Hills player, rejoins the club after playing with the Doves in the Dandenong District Cricket Association.
Narre Warren’s Shean Vanderwert has also joined the club, coming on as assistant coach.
