ENDEAOUR Hills raised hockey star Chris Ciriello had a dream Olympic debut scoring a goal as the Kookaburras opened their London Olympic campaign with a 6-0 win over South Africa last night.

Ciriello started in midfield and as expected was a key player in the Kookaburras penalty corners which led to his goal.

Ciriello was able to get a clear shot at goal from a penalty corner and he smashed a low shot just inside the left post then pointed to the stands in celebration while also showing a little relief as his previous shot was stopped by an opponent.

While he got on the scoresheet, Ciriello also got a green card early in the second and spent a couple of minutes on the sidelines after a challenge on a South African player.

He also played the equal-highest time on the field playing 53 minutes.

The Kookaburras next match is against Spain on Wednesday at 5.30pm Melbourne time.
