SFL plans to boot ‘baddies’

By Glen Atwell
CLEAN up your act or get out!
That’s the message the Southern Football Club sent its division three clubs last week.
The SFL issued a directive to the 10 clubs in an attempt to weed out the ‘baddies’ and get on with football.
An alarming number of on and off-field incidents sparked the warning that advised players and supporters to be on their best behaviour or face the consequences.
SFL executive manager Bob Caine said the league wanted to reverse the worrying trends.
“There has been too many tribunal appearances,” he said.
“Too many snipers on the field and a couple of off-field incidents that have concerned us.
“It’s time that everyone cleaned up their acts.”
Umpire abuse, from both players and spectators, was one of the areas that needed reform.
Parkmore Football Club was the first to get the wheels of improvement in motion, notifying its ‘problematic’ spectators that if they continued to play up they would no longer be welcome at Wachter Reserve.
“The message is – ‘leave the umpires alone, or you’re out’,” a Pirate source said.
