STUDENTS from Noble Park’s Adult Multicultural Education Services (AMES) and neighbouring English Language School combined rock and roll with seminars on refugee settlement issues.
Last week’s refugee day was organised by The Songroom and AMES and held at the Noble Park campus.
Activities included puppet making, drumming, sports and a chance for the students – all new arrivals to Australia – to rock to police band Code One.
AMES Noble Park assistant manager Jenny Laing said lunch was provided by Smart Cuisine, a small business of migrant women AMES has helped to train.
In addition to the entertainment, guest speakers talked to the students on settlement and parenting issues facing migrants in Australia.
