DANDENONG Thunder has appealed the Football Federation of Victoria’s $40,000 fine and 10 home-game lockout.
The Thunder is set to return in front of the FFV’s tribunal on 28 November to appeal the fine and the severity of the 10-game lockout, hoping to get either the fine or the lockout reduced.
An independent tribunal adjudicated the club would be fined $40,000 last week, with the FFV withholding the Thunder’s $30,000 winning cheque from its Victorian Premier League premiership last month, leaving the club $10,000 to pay if the verdict isn’t successfully appealled.
The club was also docked three championship points in the 2013 VPL season.
The 10 home-game club-lockout and $40,000 fine is the largest punishment ever laid out by the FFV.
It follows on from the Thunder’s two-game lockout, six championship point deduction and $20,000 fine in 2011 after an incident at the Thunder-Bentleigh Greens game in April.
