Win whets Bulls’ appetite

By JARROD POTTER

HOME with a wet sail and a whetted appetite for victory, Noble Park made light work of Knox after half-time, kicking away in the final term to register its fourth win.
Back-to-back five-goal terms after the main break broke the Falcons’ resolve as the Bulls surged ahead via Shayne Allen (three goals), Luke Cody (two) and Brad Scalzo (two) with Noble Park charging away to a 45-point victory.
“Good second half, bit of a mixed first half,” Noble Park coach Mick Fogarty said.
“Played some really good team footy and that was probably the most pleasing thing – we moved the ball how we wanted to play and the second half was the type of footy we need to play to hold us in good stead.”
Backliners once again earned the coach’s highest respect – with Trent Robertson, Stewart Kemperman and Tim Kelly atop the table.
“They’ve been outstanding this year – our defence,” Fogarty said. “Trent came in and had to bide his time in the twos – and he’s in the best form of his career – never seen him play better. The backline have been terrific – Brett Dore and George Angelopoulos were fantastic up forward and Dorey had to go in the ruck and performed really well after Dean Cleven went down.”
Ruck questions will weigh heavily on the Bulls with Cleven questionable, following an ankle injury, for a must-win match against second-placed Norwood.
Noble Park hosts Norwood on Saturday from 2pm.
