Nailbiting wait for defending champion

NOBLE Park’s first XI have slipped out of the four after falling short against Balwyn in their Victorian Sub District Cricket Association game on Saturday.
Chasing Balwyn’s total of 159 and resuming at 6/74, Noble Park was dismissed for 139 with Paul Hill top scoring with 35.
Balwyn then batted and reached 5/169 at stumps.
The loss puts the side a game out of the four, and it must win both its remaining matches and rely on sides above losing to have any chance of defending its title.
The second XI fell short in its game against Balwyn being dismissed for 231, 45 runs short of the total set in the first week.
Sean Schubert top scored with 52, with Lance Baptist making 38.
The third XI kept on track for the finals, making 6/231 in reply to Elsternwick’s total of 150.
Captain Darren Wilcox top scored with an unbeaten century with Nirosh Fonseka making 47.
The fourth XI recorded a win, dismissing Elsternwick for 213 after Noble Park side made 9/251 last week.
Michael Fox was the best of the bowlers taking 3/51.
