NEEDING a win to keep their season alive, Keysborough could only manage one successful quarter – being blown away from there by the dominant Melton Thoroughbreds.
Sticking in the fight for the first quarter, from there it was all Melton as the Keysborough season fell away rapidly.
Keysborough snared the lead early and held on for a two-point lead at the first change, out-rebounding the Thoroughbreds 17-4 to control the ring, but from there, the wheels started to fall off.
Melton struck hard in the middle terms – belting Keysborough 50-22 as the match was well and truly gone by three-quarter-time.
For their last match of the season, Aaron Stirton led the scoresheet with 14 points, while Nathaniel O’Hara reeled in nine points, nine rebounds.
Kevin Benn also claimed six points and nine rebounds in another strong showing in the low post.
Melton will face Keilor in the Big V grand final series, starting this Saturday at Keilor.
