A Dandenong South automotive casting factory has taken a big step to cutting its annual power bill. Nissan Casting Australia used a $616,432 federal grant to replace four furnaces with a high-efficiency tower melt furnace. Mark Dreyfus, parliamentary secretary for industry and innovation and Isaacs MP, said the project would cut the plant’s carbon emissions by 41 per cent, saving the company $252,000 a year in energy costs.
