A MOTORIST was killed in a collision with a bus in Springvale Road, Springvale, on Tuesday night.
Police are still establishing the identity of the driver who died shortly after his Mitsubishi sedan struck the rear of a stationary bus at 6.15pm at the Pope Street intersection.
Firefighters said the man was trapped when they arrived.
Crews spent 20 minutes cutting the man free from the wreck, but he died almost immediately after.
The four passengers on the bus received medical attention at the scene but escaped with minor injuries.
North-bound traffic in Springvale Road was diverted around the scene as firefighters cleaned the road of oil that had spilled from the bus.
