Freccia Azzurra's 'woggy' look at Christmas

CHRISTMAS comes early — and with a self-described ‘woggy’ flavour — in a stand-up comedy show in Keysborough next week.

Tahir, one of the comedians featuring in A Very Woggy Xmas Comedy Gala, is best known as ‘Habib’ in Fat Pizza.

He says it’s hard to escape stereotypes and his character in the TV series Housos is similar to the yellow-tracksuited Habib.

For the first time, the annual gala is heading out to the burbs with a bigger line-up of comedians from Turkish, Lebanese, Greek, Italian and Asian backgrounds.

The show is about “taking the mickey out of ourselves”, Tahir says — and a chance for people to relieve themselves of the stress and hustle-bustle of Christmas shopping.

Tahir’s own Christmases were memorable for the toys that other children got: “My toys were rubbish so I’d want to play with other kids’ toys.”

A Very Woggy Xmas Comedy Gala is at Freccia Azzurra Club, Keysborough, on Friday, December 7. Details, bookings: joeavati.com/shows.
