AN Endeavour Hills resident who waited more than two hours for police to attend to unruly vandals says her street is being “taken over by kids”.

The resident, who didn’t wish to be named, said youths had thrown stones and vandalised cars and houses in her street one recent Friday night.

When she called police, she was told there was only one car on duty in Endeavour Hills and she was 20th on a list of call-outs, she said.

“We had to stay up all night because we were scared the kids would come back. The police who eventually came out were unbelievably good. There just needs to be more police on a Friday and Saturday night.”

She said the perpetrators were as young as 10.

Narre Warren North Labor MP Luke Donnellan said more police were needed at the suburb’s police station on weekends.

Senior Sergeant Paul Marshall of the Endeavour Hills police said up to 15 youths were “causing trouble” on weekend nights – whether yelling or fighting on the streets. “It has always been an issue.”

Call-outs were prioritised among three divisional vans that covered Casey on weekend nights, he said.
