Youth beaten with stakes

WOODEN stakes were used to attack a 17-year-old youth in Springvale on Sunday evening.
Police are calling for witnesses to the callous attack that happened about 7.20pm at Flynn Street.
Police said the youth was riding his bike over a footbridge near Flynn Street in Warner Reserve when he was pushed from his bike by a group of four men and fell to the ground heavily.
Police said the group then attacked him with wooden stakes, striking him about the head and body.
The group took the teenager’s mobile phone.
The youth got on to his bike and rode to an address in Birmingham Street where the occupants called police and an ambulance.
The injured teenager was taken to the Monash Hospital for treatment.
