CELEBRITY chef Jamie Oliver’s healthy eating program Ministry of Food will complement Greater Dandenong’s health initiatives, says mayor Youhorn Chea.
Greater Dandenong is one of 12 councils selected to take part in the program, which teaches cooking skills and nutrition to non-cooks.
Cr Chea said the council was also running events to get its community more active and healthier. “By making some small changes our residents can dramatically alter their health outcomes and live longer and more enriched lives.”
The council’s initiatives include nutrition and exercise programs, the recruitment of five health ambassadors and Get Active Greater Dandenong this month and in March next year. There are also plans for a healthy food hub at Dandenong Market.
