Stellar season

By JARROD POTTER

THE accolades just keep coming for Noble Park Cricket Club spearhead Rizan Mawzoon.
Mawzoon was named in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association’s team of the year at the association’s awards night on Friday, capping off his stellar season with the ball as he snared 48 wickets at 12.31 and a superhuman seven five-wicket-or-more hauls.
He led all-comers as the leading wicket-taker in any of the VSDCA’s senior divisions and also chipping in for critical runs when necessary, such as his resolute 58 against Werribee in the semi-final to guide the Bulls into the big dance and finish the season with a batting average of 18.
Mawzoon was also awarded Man of the Match in the VSDCA East/West grand final in March, taking 5/30 from his 22.5 overs to knock over Oakleigh cheaply and help the side bring the pennant back to Pat Wright Senior Oval for season 2013/14.
