Principal suspended over corruption allegations

CHANDLER Park Primary School principal Peter Paul has been suspended after revelations during the state’s anti-corruption commission’s Operation Ord hearings this week.
The Keysborough school was described as a “banker school” allegedly used as a personal slush fund by some Education Department officials during the Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission inquiry.
The school had paid $29,920 to Trembath and Taylor – owned by Mr Paul’s wine merchant son – between 2007 and 2014 purportedly for education department officials.
This week, the Education Department sacked school resources director Nino Napoli and south-east regional director John Allman over the IBAC revelations.
An Education Department spokesman said Mr Paul was suspended while the department fully investigated his conduct.
“We are deeply concerned about what we heard at IBAC over the past two days,” the spokesman said in a statement.
The school’s assistant principal will act as principal during the investigation.
