DANDENONG will next month host an Australian-first light and lantern celebration.
The Chinese Cultural Works Light Spectacular is coming to the country for the first time following successful tours throughout Europe and China.
The Dandenong Festival of Lights at the Dandenong Showgrounds in Greaves Reserve will celebrate Chinese culture through 32 silk lanterns, some 20 metres wide.
Shapes and forms include windmills, Chinese zodiacs, dinosaurs, flowers, insects and animals.
A marked route will guide visitors through the festival, which will also feature music, performances, ceremonies, food trucks and jumping castles.
Logistic Events Australia director Rod Stoller hoped the festival would not only share Chinese culture, but enlighten and educate people of all ages.
The festival will be open to the public from 6pm to 10pm from 11 September until 18 October.
