A SPRINGVALE South disqualified driver will be charged with speeding and drink driving in Springvale.
Casey Highway Patrol officers were targeting intentional high-risk driving through Operation Sumatra when they allegedly saw the 26-year-old man travelling east along Princes Highway about 1.20am on Saturday 13 February.
Officers said they clocked a blue Ford sedan travelling at 171km/h in an 80km/h zone, and intercepted it in a nearby hotel car-park.
They said the driver returned a positive preliminary breath test and they impounded the car at a cost of $917.
Police took the driver back to the station where he allegedly blew 0.178 – more than three times the legal limit.
The man will face charges of driving at a dangerous speed, drink driving and driving while disqualified.
