Biting pit bull sends attacker fleeing

A PIT bull has come to its owner’s rescue during a violent assault in a Dandenong home.
The two victims heard a knock on the front door of their Cleeland Street unit while they were watching television about 5am on Tuesday 16 February.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Senior Constable Bree Jarvis said one of them opened the door and saw two men.
A man that the victim recognised forced his way inside and hit him with a star picket, causing minor injuries.
Sen Const Jarvis said the victim then set his pit bull terrier onto his attacker and the dog bit his calf, causing extensive bleeding.
The intruders fled into a waiting car with a woman behind the wheel.
Anyone with information should phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
