Brazen armed robbery at McDonald’s

Thieves held a large, curved knife to a 17-year-old’s throat during a robbery at Springvale McDonald’s.
Police said two men arrived at the fast food restaurant at Osborne Avenue and Westall Road in a grey SUV about 9.25pm on Sunday 10 July.
One walked inside carrying the knife and the other was armed with a garden saw.
The thin and tall duo wore gloves, hoodies and face coverings, Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Sergeant Luke Kirton said.
He said there were up to 20 patrons inside at the time.
They confronted the staff behind the counter, placing a knife against the 17-year-old boy’s throat and stealing money from the register.
Det Sgt Kirton said they then turned their attention to the 26-year-old store manager and demanded she open the safe.
They ran back to the car with their takings and fled the scene.
The vehicle was found burnt-out at Spring Valley Reserve in Clarke Road, Springvale South, just after 11pm that night.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the scene and have collected statements from the diners.
Det Sgt Kirton urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
