Audience members will judge poems, stories, lyrics and monologues in a state competition at Dandenong Library.
Performers can speak, scream, howl, whisper or sing their words in the Victorian Slam Poet competition, from 6.30pm on Friday 26 August.
Two finalists will compete in their state final, vying for two places at the national final in Sydney.
The national champion wins a writers tour of Asia prize pack worth up to $11,000.
Performers need to register 30 minutes before the heat. Entry is free for performers and audience members, and bookings are not required.
