Knifeman kidnaps car driver

A Lynbrook man on his way home from church became the victim of a bizarre knifepoint kidnapping in Dandenong.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident on Sunday 22 October to come forward.
They said the victim, 46, was driving his dark blue Mercedes ML350 and stopped in traffic at Clow and Ross streets about 11.50am.
A man described as African in appearance came out of a milk bar at the intersection and got into the victim’s car passenger seat.
Police said he held a knife to the victim’s throat and demanded he drive towards Dandenong.
He told the victim to produce his wallet but there was no money inside.
The kidnapper directed the victim through Dandenong and down the Dandenong Bypass to Corrigan Road, where he got out of the car in the Keysborough Hotel car park.
He fled the scene. He was described as 175 centimetres tall with short, curly hair and was wearing a blue T-shirt, black jeans, white runners and a grey backpack.
Police said the victim did not suffer any injuries.
They also said there was no preceding robbery at the milk bar.
Any witnesses to the man getting into the car in Dandenong or fleeing in Keysborough should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
