THE Homes with Heart exhibition opened today at the Heritage Hill Museum and Historic Gardens.
Artist Iwona Trofimoxicz, 72, grew up in war-ravaged Poland, where she developed a love of art, and moved to Australia in 1985 and tried her hand as an artist after retiring.
She called Dandenong home for over a decade before moving into an aged-care facility.
This exhibition, Home with Heart, explores the joys of daily life as seen from her home at the Brotherhood of St Laurence Village in Carrum Downs.
The exhibition includes 20 paintings of general scenes and landscapes.
Ms Trofimoxicz likes to keep active with her painting and her mantra is ‘Every season in your life brings something new, if you are just open to it’.
Homes with Heart is on show 5 May to 15 June at Heritage Hill Museum and Historic Gardens in McCrae Street, Dandenong.
It is open 10am to 4pm Wednesday to Friday and noon to 4pm Sundays.
Entry by gold coin donation.
