Noble Park wins three

A QUICKFIRE 90 to coach Rod Douthie and five wickets to Damien Fleming saw Noble Park start the year on a winning note against Ormond in Premier League cricket.
Winning the toss and batting, Noble Park amassed 230 in its innings.
Douthie smashed 90 – including three sixes – off only 76 balls, sharing in half-century partnerships with Jon Stones (15) and Sharni Perera (17).
Earlier, Andrew Brown (34) and Gavin Hurley (19) shared a 60-run second-wicket stand after the loss of Andy O’Meara with the score on 6 to set up the Douthie onslaught.
In reply, Ormond was dismissed for 145 after Fleming tore through the middle order taking 5/16 off eight overs, including a spell of 5/6 in four overs.
He was ably supported by Ash Perera, whose reputation as the competition’s premier left-arm quick continues to grow, as he finished with 3/15 off 6.5 overs.
The second XI had a comfortable victory passing Ormond’s total of 145 with the loss of three wickets.
Warren Dickman did the damage with the ball to finish with 4/40, supported by David Kennedy (2/29) and David Harper (2/31).
Paul Hill led the way with the bat scoring an unbeaten 81 with Chris Lee making 29.
Noble Park’s third XI got out of trouble thanks to a record fifth-wicket partnership of 159 between Darren Wilcox and 15-year-old Dane Rogers, who came together with the side at a precarious 4/15.
Wilcox scored another century and Rogers made 39 as the side reached 6/211 off its 45 overs.
Jake D’Atri chipped in with 22 not out to see the total past 200.
In reply, Ormond could only manage 160 with Nirosh Fonseka (3/10), Matt Ferguson (3/53) and Andrew Love (2/12) doing the damage.
The fourth XI couldn’t make it four wins for the club, narrowly losing to Ormond.
Bowling first, the side restricted Ormond to 8/157 with Justin Hart the best of the bowlers with 3/18.
Noble Park fell 16 runs short in the reply, dismissed for 141.
David Jones top scoring with 31with Hart also contributing with 23.
