Shotgun raider flees

A MAN revealed a sawn-off shotgun to a Springvale convenience store attendant during a raid last week before fleeing empty handed.
Police said at 11.07am on 23 August a man walked into a 7-Eleven store on Springvale Road, Springvale South, and asked the 43-year-old attendant from Endeavour Hills for a packet of cigarettes.
The attendant placed the packet on the counter when the man lifted his jumper and revealed a sawn-off shotgun. Police said he made a demand for cash, but the attendant hesitated.
Police said that something then caused the man to flee the store without stealing anything.
The man was believed to be wearing a hooded jumper with a distinctive white stripe down the middle of the hood. Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
