Couple assaulted in robbery

A HAMMER was used in a brutal armed robbery in Dandenong on the weekend.
Police are appealing for public help to find the culprits who robbed a man and woman of their wallets and mobile phones in David Street, Dandenong, at 3.20am on Saturday 1 September.
Police believe that a man and woman were walking along the street at about 3.20am when a green Holden Commodore pulled up to the couple, and three or four men got out of the vehicle.
Police believe the group approached the couple with a hammer and another unidentified weapon.
The group assaulted the couple and stolen their wallets and mobile phones.
The men fled the scene and a passer-by has assisted the couple to a house where police and an ambulance were called. The couple was taken to the Dandenong Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The attackers, of dark complexion, had their faces covered.
Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the attack. Anyone with information or any witnesses are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppers.com.au.
