COLES Supermarket in Noble Park is set for refurbishment early next year.
This week Coles Myer spokeswoman Kate Bowman said renovation works would begin in January, but the size and scope of the redevelopment was yet to be determined.
“The refurbishment is still at its planning stages so the cost of the renovations and the time these changes will take has not been finalised,” she said.
The move follows a recent Noble Park Activity and Structure Plan meeting at which many residents and local business owners expressed concern over the current state of the supermarket, and said an urgent refurbishment was required.
Many residents at the meeting labelled the ageing supermarket unwelcoming, dirty, unsafe and even disgusting and called for more car park security and surveillance at the Douglas Street site.
