Dandy calls for planning input

GREATER Dandenong council is calling for public input into a community plan that will shape the city’s future over the next 20 years.
Last week the council distributed a questionnaire asking residents what they liked about Greater Dandenong now, what was most important to the area’s future and what people would like to see in 20 years.
Greater Dandenong CEO John Bennie said the questionnaire was the start of a long-term program to develop a community plan.
He said, with elections in November, it was an ideal time to learn what the people of Greater Dandenong hoped for for the long-term future of the city.
“This will assist the new council in setting directions for its four-year term,” Mr Bennie said. “A community plan focuses on what the community thinks is important and what their aspirations are for the future.”
Mr Bennie said a community plan would help the council understand what values all members of the community shared.
“This will give us the tools we need to achieve a future we collectively desire,” he said.
“While many of the ideas, suggestions and visions coming from the community may not be under council’s control, having this information will be instrumental in council’s long-term plans for the future.”
