VicUrban readies for the works

VICURBAN is starting preparatory works to make way for a new street and new buildings as part of the Revitalising Central Dandenong project.
Between now and the end of next month, the site at 139-157 Thomas Street will be cleared, with the former Grand International building to be demolished.
Once cleared, part of the site will be used for the previously announced Government Services Building, construction of which is expected to begin in the New Year.
The rest of the site will become part of the future “City Street”, a new street linking the Dandenong Station precinct to the heart of Dandenong.
VicUrban is also demolishing the unused timber building on the corner of Robinson and George streets, in preparation for City Street’s construction.
VicUrban’s development director, Michael King, said preparatory work needed to be done now so that construction could proceed quickly when it started.
Throughout the coming months VicUrban will clear more sites to prepare for the changes outlined in the Revitalising Central Dandenong project.
