Juniors take the lead

JUNIOR football is alive and kicking in the City of Greater Dandenong.
With five local teams competing for premiership glory, four of them claimed football’s ultimate prize.
North Dandenong’s Under-14 Division Two team defeated Narre South Lions by 31 points, after finishing off the season on top with 12 wins and two losses.
Noble Park’s under-12s (Div 2) ground out a three-goal victory against Narre North Foxes and they, too, capped off a fine season (12-1-1).
Dandenong Saints under-12s (Div 3) knocked off an inaccurate Berwick Springs by three goals and finished on top of the regular season (12-1).
Noble Park’s under-10 (Div 3) finished on top during the regular season (9-4) and won comfortably by 30 points against Timbarra Tornadoes in their grand final.
For the first time ever, the Youth Girls took part on grand final day between Cranbourne and Noble Park, with Cranbourne taking the honours in an epic battle by one solitary point.
Dandenong and District Junior Football League president Shaun Connell said considering it was their first time hosting the event at the fields, the day was a complete success.
“It was a massive, massive day, more people turned up than we expected,” he said. “Those who were there said they had a wonderful time and in all honesty it went better than we planned.”
